A reflection of the year 2018

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.
II Corinthians 4:8-9 (NIV)

Oh, yeah. It was a tough one, folks but the Lord brought us through it.

Being me, I am not usually one to jump on bandwagons. I know every blogger and content creator out there is sharing a "What I learned in 2018" piece with their audience. Nevertheless, as I sat and thought about it, I began to realize that one of the most vital things we do to incite growth and learning within ourselves is reflection. I talk about this often. So, how can we not talk about what we've learned and how to make ourselves better in the next season to come?

2018 has been an interesting year for me and I'll leave it at that. Last night during his sermon, my pastor shared a few words with the congregation. Above everything that was ministered, the lesson that stuck out to me the most was about always having a heart of thankfulness. Being thankful is about acknowledging that who God is and what God does is incomparable to any other force that exists. It's about revering His sovereignty and dominance, even when you feel short of faith.

Listen, 2018 was... a lot, but one thing I can say is that by the grace of God, I am here at the end of it, knowing that I have grown as a human being and a young woman. I have something to show for the lowest points I went through. I also have something to show for the highest points. Above all though, my year, with all of its flaws, lows, shortcomings, and struggles, has been salvaged by God and used for His glory and for my good (Romans 8:28). My year is a testament to His friendship, patience, and dedication to us. For this, and so much more, I am grateful.

My most cherished lesson: I am not who I am because of my might. My talents, my success, my passions, are nothing without the love of God and I have nothing to boast in but the Lord (I Corinthians 13:1-3, I Corinthians 1:26-31).

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND GOD BLESS
