5 Self-Care Activities to do Throughout the Day

Everyone is talking about self-care. Whether it's influencers introducing you to a new mud mask or  authors and their self-help books, we're all learning a little bit more and more about what self-care is and what it means to us. Nevertheless, it's crucial to be intentional about self-care. Otherwise, it gets gradually easier to give into negative thoughts of self-doubt/detriment. So, to combat this, I've compiled a list of 5 easy and helpful self-care activities to do throughout the day.

1. Mirror Talk
Take about 5 minutes in the morning and use this time to speak good things into your life. Don't be afraid to look yourself in the eye and really connect with yourself. Tell yourself everything you want to be, all the blessings that will come into your life, how capable you are, etc. Really get in tune with yourself. You can also do this at night as your reflect on your day. It feels a little creepy at first, I won't lie. For some reason, I always get a tingling sensation as my brain begins to realize that I'm a real person... yeah, it's weird and maybe it's just me but let me know what you feel when you try it out!

2. Get active with your health
Not all of us are inclined to go vegan or become trained athletes but that doesn't mean that we are exempt from taking care of our bodies. Our bodies are temples; sacred entities that need love and nourishment. Start small and then build your way up. Try swapping out your daily morning bacon with some leaner turkey sausage. Start drinking a cup of water in the morning to get an early start on reaching your necessary daily water intake. Have a bowl of fruits instead of reaching for a bag of Ruffles Original (my fave). 

3. Be Productive
Being a college student, I know a thing or two about just wanting to lie in bed all day, neglecting all my responsibilities. Nevertheless, you don't get the most out of life doing that everyday. Being able to cross both mini and major projects off of your to-do list is such a good feeling. Make sure you're being productive, fulfilling your accomplishments, and letting your talents shine!

4. Play Dress Up!
I am definitely in the process of trying to build my wardrobe. I love being able to feel comfortable, beautiful, and stylish in my clothing. It just makes me feel amazing and confident. Maybe you have a sense of style that boosts your confidence; try it out! Explore and opt for pieces that really feel like you. Keep in mind that you don't need to break the bank to do this. Just work with what you can!

5. Stay Positive
This one isn't always easy but it is always imperative. Be sure to stay positive and keep negativity far from your lips and thoughts. A perfect way to start is to memorize a bible verse of your choice. Whenever any form of negativity arises; say it or think it over and over. One of my favorites: " 'For I know the plans I have for you,' ” declares the Lord, “ 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future' " (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV).
