Psalm 46:10
On being still.
I know. Trust me, I know. Staying still both physically and mentally is an enormous feat. I can't even convince myself to sugarcoat it for you. With a million and one things to do and a limited 24-hour day cycle, it can be so difficult to meet every single demand that pulls you from every corner. Eat right, they say. Do well in school, they say. Exercise, they say. Spend time with family and friends, they say. Invest in yourself, they say. Have multiple streams of income for financial stability, they say. Marry before this age, they say. Have this many boys and girls, they say. Work hard, they say. Find time to spend alone with God, they say. It's a lot! On paper, these are but a few of the many components that testify to someone who has their life together. Yet, how many of us can confidently say that we've mastered doing all those things at the same time, successfully? What's even harder is that these look like pretty mandatory and necessary things to maintain in life.
Nevertheless, Matthew 6:25-34 tells us to not worry for God knows the necessities of this life. What is required and expected of us; what we've set out to accomplish; what God has called us to perform. He knows all. So, He reminds us that His grace is sufficient for us and that His love covers a multitude of sins. In our low points, when we feel like we can not go on. When we feel like we are no longer able. When our strength is worn down to the bone. Your God has only just begun a good work in you. He promises to finish it (Phil. 1:6).
My biggest piece of advice: take a break from the hustle and bustle. Be still. Rest and relax in the power and assurance that exists in being called His child, His responsibility. You are enough because your God is capable of doing anything. You will make it because nothing is impossible for your God. You are able because He is more than able.
