I don't know what you're waiting for!

I attended a wonderful conference today hosted by HerCampus. The theme? "It starts with you."

In the span of 2 1/2 hours, we were challenged and inspired by women who took initiative and just went for it. The common thread was that they had dreams, intentions, and goals that they were not afraid to pursue and conquer. Even aspects of their identities that seemed like stumbling blocks were utilized to their advantage. One's history as a refugee and immigrant built a strong sense of self-sufficiency and confidence. Another's early loss of her mom at a tender age later helped her to navigate male-dominated spaces in the workplace.

At the end of the day, there were ups and downs. There were times when they felt like they were on top of the world and thriving. There were times when they had no idea what the next step would be. Nevertheless, they all took initiative. They are all living in their purpose today as far as they're concerned. Most importantly- they continue to push boundaries, yearn for more knowledge, and challenge themselves to attain higher standards.

How much more you that is able to navigate this Earth with the authority you have in being called a child of God? My statement is simple: I do not know what you're waiting for. Many of us have visions, goals, and plans that have been planted in us by God, waiting to be expounded upon and manifested into the physical realm. Yet, many of us allow those ideas and dreams to stay in our minds and collect dust.

The most common reason I've identified for why people avoid taking initiative is fear. It's fear of the unknown, failure, not being capable or able, making mistakes - the list goes on. I need you to realize and understand that those fears are lies. As a child of God, there is nothing that is able to suppress the glory of God in your life. God has given you the idea, the goal, the aspiration, the project- it is up to you to know that He goes before you and is walking with you. Do it in the name of God, keep pushing into Him despite your weaknesses because, "And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly will I rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me" (II Cor. 12:9). Even the fear of making mistakes or not being good enough is invalid: God triumphs over your mistakes. His majesty pierces through your humanity. I don't know what you're waiting for. You have His "okay". Exercise your faith, continuing praying, and take initiative.

Remember: James 2:26. "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead."
