"It's going to be so fun to be grown," they said, not knowing the foolishness of their remarks. "I can't wait to be an adult," they said, not understanding the gravity of such a statement. You and I... we are "they".
I remember frequent conversations with my friends over the years. Starting from 5th grade, perhaps, we were always wanting to get to the next level. By the time high school rolled around, we were itching to turn 18 and become "adults". Little did we know... adulthood... is not... that fun.
Wow. We were bamboozled.
Anyway, here we are. Stuck in it now. So, we might as well do it right! With adulthood comes responsibility and with responsibility comes a never-ending to-do list, often with many moving parts. Here are some tips on how to stay organized for a smoother week!
1. Color-coded planners
Other than the fact that they're just pretty, color-coded planners are a splendid way to keep a visual record of your schedule and tasks.
2. Stay consistent in updating the planner
This seems obvious but if I'm mentioning it then know that despite it being obvious, it is still a step that can be missed. Don't be lazy. Update that planner!
3. Meal prep!
It's an organization method for planning out your meals. Truth is, we don't always have the time or the energy to cook dinner or lunch everyday. Some days, even Rachel Ray's famous 30-minute recipes just won't make the cut, either. A perfect solution is to meal prep. Not only does it take one more thing off of you to-do list during the week, it's better than the alternative of grabbing takeout.
4. Schedule in time for rest and hobbies
Please don't forget about the things that give you some peace, satisfaction, and relaxation. Schedule in quiet time with God, reading time, exercise, checking up on a friend you haven't spoken to in a while, playing a sport- anything that adds to the quality and enjoyment of your week. It can't be just work all of the time. Schedule in time to have fun to make sure you actually do it and to also avoid spending too much time on these other activities. The probability of you binge-watching Netflix decreases significantly if you are strict with a 1-hour or two episode long limit.
