Last week, I shared 5 ways to work on becoming better versions of ourselves. All of them primarily focused on the change that needs to happen on the inside of us in order to spark that initial step in the right direction. Today, I want to discuss the importance of changing our surroundings and environment in the effort to flourish. Taking control over some external factors can help us to feel a little more in control and confident.
- Change up your look: You don't have to go crazy and completely replace your wardrobe or dye your mane neon blue. Making a few, subtle changes to your look can really boost your self-confidence. You can buy those pair of boots you've always loved or get a haircut. Make sure that every time you look in the mirror, you love the person staring back at you. I've found that the old saying, "look good, feel good," is actually totally true. You can extract power from the way you present and carry yourself.
- Try something new: Trying something out of your comfort zone is a perfect way to light a fire underneath yourself. Challenging yourself and allowing yourself to make mistakes, learn, and grow is essential to bringing out the best in you. Try something new with a friend or go solo. Either way, make sure you are having fun and enjoying seeing a new side of you.
- Clean up your surroundings: A cluttered space is a cluttered mind. Free your environment and free your mind. Take care of the pile of laundry in the corner of the room or the stacks of junk mail that have taken over half of your work desk. Invite clarity into your life by making a conscious effort to keep your surrounding environment clean and clear.
- Do something you love: Do that thing that makes you feel alive and happy. I mentioned this a little in my Getting Out of a Funk post. Whatever puts a smile on your face, brings you peace, and makes you feel like there is beauty in your life; that's the thing to do.
- Make a vision board: This one is a little new to me but the other day, I stumbled on a couple of vision board videos on YouTube. It seems like a lovely idea, especially if you're a visual person. Take some time to decorate a poster with all of your goals and aspirations in pictures and words. Tape it up in your room or if you make a smaller one, hang it beside your bathroom mirror. Anyway you choose, put it up somewhere that allows you to look at it multiple times a day. Having constant reminders about your goals and ideas is great way to keep yourself grinding so that you always remember who or what you are working so hard for. Your best self lives in purpose.
Thanks for reading, guys. Comment down below on some other ways that inspire your best self to come forth. Until next time, y'all.
